Chris formerly attended Manchester Metropolitan University and graduated with a 1st in Chemistry (MChem) in 2014. His MChem project looked at designing, synthesising and analysing new η6-arene ruthenium complexes to be used as anticancer agents. Chris then attended and completed his Ph.D. (CASE studentship award) at the University of Leeds supervised by Dr Richard Bourne and Dr Charlotte Willans. His research was focused on the monitoring, modelling and optimisation of continuous flow reactions using on-line mass spectrometry. Most notably, his research was applied and implemented to pharmaceutically relevant examples. As part of his Ph.D., Chris undertook a three-month placement at AstraZeneca in 2017. Chris is now a Research Technician at the University of York working with Prof. Ian Fairlamb looking at Automating Chemical reaction Screening using a Chemspeed system as well as developing catalytic reactions in continuous flow.
