Daniel Chernick
Daniel graduated from Lancaster University with a 2:1 in Chemical Engineering (MEng) in 2018. For his Master’s project he investigated the optimisation of an enzymatic hydrolysis to extract polyphenols from beetroot pulp. After graduating from Lancaster University, Daniel joined the University of Leeds’ Bioenergy Centre for Doctoral Training based in Energy Building. For the Master’s aspect of this programme, Daniel worked on a miniproject related to the torrefaction (mild pyrolysis) of heather to investigate its use as a fuel source. As part of the second miniproject, he focused on the biochemical analysis of products from an enzymatic degradation process of waste. Since starting his PhD project July 2019, Daniel’s research has been focusing on producing green solvents from waste sources. His research is supervised by Dr Richard Bourne, Dr Andrew B Ross and Prof John Blacker.
